Nüll

Nüll, Eduard van der, österreich. Architekt, geb. 9. Jan. 1812 in Wien, gest. daselbst durch eigne Hand 3. April 1868, war 1844–65 Professor der Architektur und Ornamentik an der Akademie und übte auch durch seine künstlerische Tätigkeit einen großen Einfluß auf die neue bauliche Entwickelung Wiens. Von seinen Bauten, die er meist in Gemeinschaft mit August v. Siccardsburg ausführte und zwar so, daß N. die ästhetische, Siccardsburg die technische Seite bearbeitete, sind besonders zu erwähnen: das Kommandanturgebäude des k. k. Arsenals, das Carl-Theater, das Haassche Haus am Graben, das Palais Larisch und das Opernhaus in Wien, sein Hauptwerk (1861–69). Außerdem verdankt das Kunstgewerbe ihm treffliche Entwürfe. Er behandelte die Renaissance mit starker Hinneigung zur Spätrenaissance und zum Rokoko.
