Blennerhassett, Lady Charlotte, geborne Gräfin Leyden, Schriftstellerin, geb. 19. Febr. 1843 in München, seit 1870 vermählt mit Sir Rowland B. in Irland, lebt in München, wo sie von der philosophischen Fakultät der Universität 1898 zum Doct. hon. causa ernannt wurde. Sie machte sich besonders bekannt durch die beiden gehaltvollen Biographien: »Frau von Staël« (Berl. 1887–89, 3 Bde.; auch franz., Par. 1890) und »Talleyrand« (Berl. 1894; engl., Lond. 1894) und schrieb außerdem zahlreiche Essays, unter denen besonders »Die Ethik des modernen Romans« (in der Zeitschrift »Cosmopolis«, 1896), über George Eliot (1885), Taine (1886), den Herzog von Broglie (1887), die Königin Viktoria (1887), den modernen spanischen Roman (1896), Gabr. d'Annunzio (1898), Alfred Lord Tennyson (1899) in der »Deutschen Rundschau« zu nennen sind.
