Karkaraly, Kreis im W. der Provinz Semipalatinsk des russisch-asiat. Generalgouvernements der Steppe, wird von den 1200–1500 m hohen Karkaralynischen Bergen durchzogen und hat 18,602 qkm Fläche, davon 9215 qkm Seen, mit (1897) 171,558 Einw., meist Kirgisen, die Viehzucht, Silber- u. Kohlenbergbau betreiben. Der gleichnamige, auch Karakalinsk genannte Hauptort hat 4455 Einw.
