Anaclētus

Anaclētus, Name von zwei Päpsten: 1) A. I., auch Cletus, der Heilige, war von 76–88 (7) dritter Bischof von Rom als Nachfolger des Linus und soll unter Domitian den Märtyrertod erlitten haben. – 2) A. II., vorher Petrus Leonis, aus der von reich gewordenen Juden stammenden, später zum Christentum übergetretenen Familie der Pierleoni, in Paris erzogen, dann Mönch in Cluny, darauf Kardinal und Legat in Frankreich und England, wurde nach Honorius' II. Tode 14. Febr. 1130 gegen den durch die Frangipani und einen Teil der Kardinäle gewählten Innocenz II. zum Papst erhoben. Von den Römern, Mailändern und Roger von Sizilien unterstützt, nötigte er Innocenz II. zur Flucht nach Frankreich und behauptete sich, auch nachdem Kaiser Lothar 1133 den Papst in den Lateran geführt hatte, jenseit des Tiber. Nach Lothars Abzug mußte Innocenz abermals aus Rom weichen, und A. behauptete sich auf dem päpstlichen Stuhl und im Besitz des größten Teiles von Rom mit der Peterskirche bis zu seinem Tode (25.
