Fort Beaufort (Beaufort East, spr. bō- oder bjūfört īst), Division der britisch-afrikan. Kapkolonie, 2227 qkm mit (1891) 14,676 Einw. (3136 Weiße, 10,192 Bantu, 1348 Hottentotten), im W. und S. vom Großen Fischfluß begrenzt und ganz von Gebirgen erfüllt (im N. der Große Winterberg, 2380 m), hat vortreffliche Waldungen und starke Viehzucht. Beim gleichnamigen Hauptort (1007 Einw.) 1851 Sieg der Engländer über die Kaffern und Hottentotten.
