Bablah

Bablah (Bambolahschoten, indischer Gallus), die unreif gesammelten Hülsenfrüchte verschiedener Akazienarten. Es sind 5–8 cm lange, flache, gegliederte, meist zerbrochene, dunkel- oder hellbraune Hülsen mit einem runden, braunen, glatten, geschmacklosen Samen in jedem Fache. Die Schale schmeckt stark herb-säuerlich und enthält 14–20 Proz. Gerbsäure. Ostindischer B. (indischer Gallus, Babul, Babol, Burbura) stammt von Acacia arabica var. indica (s. Tafel »Gerbmaterialien liefernde Pflanzen«, Fig. 10) und ist filzig behaart. Ägyptischer B. (Neb-Neb, Garrat) stammt von A. nilotica und ist kahl. Die Hülsen von A. Adansonii Guill. et Perott kommen unter dem Namen Gousses de Gonaké in den Handel. B. dient zum Gelb-, Braun- und Schwarzfärben und zur Bereitung von Tinte und leichterm Leder.
