Below, Georg von, Geschichtsforscher, geb. 19. Jan. 1858 zu Königsberg i. Pr., habilitierte sich 1886 in Marburg, 1888 in Königsberg als Privatdozent der Geschichte, und wurde 1891 nach Münster, 1897 nach Marburg, 1901 nach Tübingen berufen. Er schrieb: »Die Entstehung des ausschließlichen Wahlrechts der Domkapitel« (Leipz. 1883); »Die landständische Verfassung in Jülich und Berg« (Düsseld. 1885–90, 3 Tle.); »Die Entstehung der deutschen Stadtgemeinde« (das. 1889); »Der Ursprung der deutschen Stadtverfassung« (das. 1892); »Das Duell und der germanische Ehrbegriff« (Kassel 1896); »Das Duell in Deutschland« (2. Aufl., das. 1896); »Das ältere deutsche Städtewesen und Bürgertum« (Bielef. 1898); »Territorium und Stadt. Aufsätze zur deutschen Verfassungs-, Verwaltungs- und Wirtschaftsgeschichte« (Münch. 1900). Für die Gesellschaft für rheinische Geschichtskunde gab er »Landtagsakten von Jülich-Berg. 1410–1610« heraus (Bd. 1, Düsseld. 1895).
