Strengnäs, alte Stadt im schwed. Län Södermanland, am Mälar, ist seit dem Brand von 1871 neu aufgebaut, hat eine in ihrem Kern aus dem 13. Jahrh. stammende Domkirche mit den Grabmälern Karls IX., Sten Stures des Jüngern u. a., eine gute bischöfliche Bibliothek und (1905) 2536 Einw. S. steht mit Stockholm in regelmäßiger Dampferverbindung. Seit dem Anfang des 12. Jahrh. ist es Bischofssitz.
