Neōn, ein in der atmosphärischen Luft in sehr geringer Menge (0,0000086 Proz.) vorkommendes gasförmiges, farb- und geruchloses Element vom Atomgewicht 20 und dem spez. Gew. 0,7, ist dem Argon sehr ähnlich, siedet aber bei noch niedrigerer Temperatur und gibt in einer Pücklerschen Röhre ein glänzendes orangerotes Licht.
