Gostj (russ., eigentlich »Gast«), in Rußland soviel wie Händler oder Kaufmann, namentlich ein fremder, im Gegensatz zu Kupez (s. d.), dem einheimischen Kaufmann. Daher Gostjbá, das Beziehen von Jahrmärkten; Gostínnyj Dwor, Kaufhalle, Basar.
