Táragarh

Táragarh, Name zweier Bergfestungen in Britisch-Indien. Die eine in Adschmir Merwara auf einem steil zu 950 m aufsteigenden Felsen der Arawalikette, seit 1832 aufgegeben, dient seit 1860 als Gesundheitsstation. Das Grab eines mohammedanischen Heiligen auf dem Gipfel zieht viele Pilger an. Am Fuß des Berges, der mehrere jetzt nicht mehr ausgebeutete Blei-, Kupfer- und Eisengänge enthält, liegen die Stadt Adschmir, ein Palast Akbars, jetzt Zeughaus, und ein andrer verfallener Dschahanghirs. Das zweite Fort im Tributärstaat Nalagarh des Pandschab am linken Ufer des Satledsch wurde 1815 von den Engländern genommen.
