Joint-stock banks

Joint-stock banks (spr. dscheunt-stock bänks), in England solche Banken, die mit einem von vielen Personen zusammengeschossenen Kapital betrieben und daher auch nur von einem Ausschuß der Anteilseigner geleitet werden. Sie sind in vielen Fällen unsern Aktienbanken gleich, wenn sie nämlich mit beschränkter Haftbarkeit (limited liability) ihrer Mitglieder errichtet sind. In neuester Zeit vermehrt sich diese Art Banken, u. die mit unbeschränkter Haftbarkeit verschwinden allmählich. Näheres s. Banken, S. 347.
