Grubb (spr. gröbb), Sir Howard, Mechaniker, geb. 28. Juli 1844 in Dublin, besuchte das Trinity College daselbst und trat dann in das von seinem Vater Thomas G. (geb. 1801, gest. 19. Sept. 1878) begründete Geschäft für Feinmechanik. Er lieferte zahlreiche große astronomische Instrumente, unter anderm das große Spiegelteleskop für die Sternwarte in Melbourne und die großen Refraktoren für die Sternwarten in Wien und Greenwich. 1837 wurde ihm der Adel verliehen.
