Beolco

Beolco, Angelo, genannt Ruzzante (der Scherzende), ital. Lustspieldichter, geb. 1502 in Padua, gest. daselbst 17. März 1542, war Schauspieler von Beruf und schrieb eine Anzahl munterer, gut aufgebauter ländlicher Lustspiele und Farcen voll seiner Beobachtung, in denen er oft selbst in der Rolle des Bauern Ruzante auftrat. Sein bestes Stück ist die »Fiorina«. Gesamtausgabe »Tutte le opere del famosissimo Ruzante« (Vicenza 1584). Vgl.
