Phloroglucīn

Phloroglucīn C6H6O3 oder C6H3(OH)3, ein dreiwertiges Phenol (Trioxybenzol) wie Pyrogallussäure und Oxyhydrochinon, entsteht aus vielen Pflanzenstoffen, wie Drachenblut, Gummigutt, Kino, Quercitrin etc., sowie aus Resorcin beim Schmelzen mit Ätzkali, auch beim Schmelzen von Resorcin, Orcin und Benzoltrisulfosäure mit Ätznatron, bildet farblose Prismen mit 2H2O, löst sich leicht in Wasser, Alkohol und Äther und schmeckt sehr süß. Es wird bei 100° wasserfrei, schmilzt bei 218° und sublimiert. Durch Chlor wird es in Dichloressigsäure und Tetrachloraceton gespalten. Bringt man einen Tropfen einer 1/2 proz. Lösung von P. auf einen Fichtenspan und benetzt die Stelle mit Salzsäure, so färbt sie sich schön und lebhaft rot mit einem Stich ins Violette. Mit dieser Reaktion kann man in den zartesten Keimlingen eine Verholzung der Gefäße nachweisen. Alle Holzschleifstoffpapiere werden durch P. intensiv rot; indes kann völlig gebleichter Holzstoff nicht nachgewiesen werden, da die Bleichmittel die färbende Substanz zerstören.
