New York American

New York American, große New Yorker Zeitung, erscheint täglich in sieben Ausgaben: zwei oder drei morgens (Auflage 300,000), die übrigen abends (730,000), Sonntags als »The Sunday American and Journal« mit Unterhaltungsbeilage (800,000). Eigentümer und Hauptredakteur ist William Randolph Hearst, der 1895 den »Morning American« (gegründet 1882 von Albert Pulitzer) erwarb und mit dem 1896 gegründeten »Evening Journal« verschmolz. Seit 1903 führt das Blatt den Gesamttitel »N. Y. A.« Hearst ist auch Eigentümer des »Boston American«, des »Chicago American« und des »Los Angeles Examiner«.
