Land-tax

Land-tax, eine ältere, 1692 in England eingeführte, ursprünglich verschiedene Arten von Vermögen und Einkommen, später fast nur noch den Grundbesitz treffende Steuer. Sie wurde unter Pitts Verwaltung 1798 für unabänderlich und zugleich für ablösbar erklärt. Mehr als die Hälfte ihres damals ca. 2 Mill. Pfd. Sterl. betragenden Ertrags ist bereits abgelöst.
