Jörmunrek

Jörmunrek, der mythisch umgestaltete König Ermanarich oder Ermrich (s. d.), schickte nach der nordischen Sage seinen Sohn Randwer zu Jonakr und Gudrun, um für ihn, den Vater, um Gudruns und Sigurds Tochter Swanhild (s. d.) zu freien. Randwers Begleiter aber, der boshafte Bikki, beredete ihn, das Mädchen für sich selbst statt für seinen Vater zu erbitten. Randwer ging hierauf ein, Bikki aber hinterbrachte es dem J., und dieser ließ nun seinen Sohn aufhängen und Swanhild durch seine Pferde zertreten. Um ihre Tochter Swanhild zu rächen, sandte Gudrun ihre Söhne Sorli und Hamdir zu J., die ihm Hände und Füße abschlugen. Sie wurden dafür von den Leuten Jormunreks gesteinigt.
