Huc

Huc (spr. ük), Evariste Regis, franz. Missionar und Reisender, geb. 1. Aug. 1813 in Toulouse, gest. 26. März 1860 in Paris, war von 1839–52 in China als Missionar tätig und bereiste von da aus mit Gabet Hochasien u. Tibet bis nach Lhassa. Er veröffentlichte: »Souvenirs d'un voyage dans la Tartarie, le Thibet et la Chine« (Par. 1850, 2 Bde.; 6. Aufl. 1878; deutsch, 3. Aufl., Leipz. 1874); »L'empire chinois« (1854, 2 Bde.; 5. Aufl. 1879; deutsch, 3. Aufl. 1874); »Le christianismeen Chine« (1858, 4 Bde.). Vgl. Rockhill, The land of the Llamas, S. 125f.
