Helmwind, ein Ostwind in Nordengland, der beim Überschreiten der Croßfellkette durch Kondensation eine Wolkenhaube (engl. helm cloud) über den Bergen bildet; diese löst sich beim Hinabstürzen der Luft in das Edental auf, entsteht aber beim Anstieg auf der andern Talseite von neuem (helm bar) in rückwärts gewandtem Wirbel.
