County-Court

County-Court (spr. kauntĭ-kōrt, abgekürzt C. C., »Grafschaftsgericht«) bezeichnet in England einen etwa dem deutschen Landgericht entsprechenden Gerichtshof mit besoldetem Richter, in den Vereinigten Staaten aber die Versammlung der Friedensrichter, gleichviel ob sie zu Zwecken der Verwaltung oder als Gerichtshof zusammentreten. Die jetzigen englischen County-Courts wurden 1846 geschaffen und ihre districts bestimmt; eine Anzahl von districts bildet dann einen circuit (s.d.). Ihre Zuständigkeit regelt die C. C. Act von 1888. In England heißt übrigens C. C. auch die Volksversammlung der Grafschaft, die berufen wird, um den Coroner (s.d.) zu wählen. Vgl.
