Carthage (spr. kārthĭdsch), Hauptstadt der Grafschaft Jasper im nordamerikan. Staat Missouri, Bahnknotenpunkt, mit reichen Blei- und Zinkgruben, Wollfabriken, Marmor- und Kalkbrüchen und (1900) 9416 Einw. – Hier 5. Juli 1861 Sieg Sigls über die Konföderierten.
