Carnarvonshire (spr. karnārw'nschir, welsch Arson), Grafschaft im nordwestlichen Teil von Wales, auf drei Seiten vom Meer umgeben, durch die Menaistraße von Anglesey getrennt und im N. von Denbigh- und Merionethshire begrenzt, der gebirgigste und malerischste Teil von Wales, in dessen Mitte der Snowdon (s.d.) liegt, umfaßt 1495 qkm (27,1 QM.) mit (1901) 126,835 Einw. (87 auf 1 qkm). Hauptstadt ist Carnarvon.
