Cail

Cail (spr. kaj), Jean François, Industrieller, geb. 2. Febr. 1804 zu Chef-Boutonne im Depart. Deux-Sèvres, gest. 22. Mai 1871 bei Ruffěc, kam 1822 nach Paris, begründete mit dem Apotheker Charles Derosne (1780–1846) eine Fabrik, konstruierte einen Destillationsapparat, der allgemeine Anwendung gefunden hat, wandte sich dann der Zuckerindustrie, Rüben- und Weinkultur zu und baute auch für diese zweckmäßige Apparate und Maschinen, wie Vakuumpfannen etc., ferner Werkzeugmaschinen, Lokomobilen etc. Während der Belagerung von Paris 1870/71 stellte er 300 Getreidemühlen auf und lieferte gleichzeitig Geschütze, Geschosse, Kanonenboote etc. Er hatte auch Werkstätten in Brüssel, Amsterdam, Denain und Douai, Agenturen in Cuba, den Antillen etc. Vgl.
