Eine baumbildende Art dieser Gattung mit 3 m hohem und 60 cm dickem Stamm sowie schönen, ca. 210 breiten, doppeltfiederteiligen Blättern ist T. barbara Moore (s. Tafel »Farne I«, Fig. 22), die in Neuholland, Neuseeland und Südafrika wächst; T. hymenophylloides Rich., mit kurzem, stammartigem Rhizom, ist in Neuseeland einheimisch.
