Thermostāt

Thermostāt (griech., Thermoregulator), Gestell zum bequemen Erhitzen eines Körpers über der Lampe, speziell eine Vorrichtung zur Einhaltung einer bestimmten Temperatur. Erreicht die Quecksilbersäule in einem thermometerartigen Gefäß eine bestimmte Höhe, die nicht überschritten werden soll, so schließt sie durch einen in das Thermometer eingeschmolzenen Platindraht einen elektrischen Strom, der nun entweder nur den Wächter durch eine elektrische Klingel herbeiruft oder direkt auf die Flamme wirkt, indem er den Zufluß von Leuchtgas verringert. Bei Arsonvals T. reguliert eine Gummimembran den Gaszufluß, während Lautenschlägers T. eine elektromagnetisch wirkende Regulierung besitzt.
