Senwosret (Sesonchosis, Sesostris), Name mehrerer Könige von Ägypten aus der 12. Dynastie (1996–1783 v. Chr.). S. I. unterwarf zum ersten Male Nubien und ist das Urbild des großen Sagenhelden Sesostris (s. d.); er ist in der südlichen Pyramide von Lischt (s. Pyramiden) begraben. S. 111. befestigte die Herrschaft Ägyptens über das nördliche Nubien und wurde dort später als Gott verehrt; sein Grabmal liegt bei Dahschur (südlich von Kairo).
