Komitat Csongrád, von den zur Zeit der großen Überschwemmung der Theiß und Maros (1879) hierher geflüchteten Bewohnern der zerstörten Gemeinde Algyö auf dem Gebiete des Markgrafen Alexander Pallavicini begründet, mit (1901) 4132 magyar.
