Roxburghshire

Roxburghshire (spr. róxböroschīr) Grafschaft im südöstlichen Schottland, grenzt im S. und O. an England, im N. an Berwickshire und Edinburgshire, im W. an Selkirkshire und Dumfriesshire, umfaßt die Landschaften Teviotdale und Liddesdale nebst einem Teil von Tweeddale und hat 1734 qkm (31,5 QM.) mit (1901) 48,793 Einw. (28 auf 1 qkm). Hauptstadt ist Jedburgh. Den Namen hat die Grafschaft von dem ehemaligen Hauptort Roxburgh (s. d.).
