Pien-wai

Pien-wai (chines., »außerhalb der Grenze«), das ehemalige neutrale Gebiet in der chines. Provinz Schönking (südliche Mandschurei), zwischen dem Yalufluß an der koreanischen Grenze und einer parallelen, etwa 44 km entfernten Linie, das durch die chinesische Regierung von allen Bewohnern gesäubert wurde. Durch eine von Takuschan nahe der Koreabai ausgehende Palisade führte ein Tor (Kaulimönn) bei der Stadt Fönghwangtschönn auf die Straße nach Widschu, die den ganzen Verkehr zwischen den beiden Ländern vermittelte. Allmählich aber haben sich in dem fruchtbaren Gebiet viele chinesische Ansiedler niedergelassen.
