Navajō (spr. -wācho), nordamerikan. Indianerstamm der Athabasken (s. d.) in Neumexiko, mit den Apatschen verwandt. Früher als kühne Räuber gefürchtet, sind sie jetzt zur Viehzucht übergegangen. 1890 lebten in der Navajo-Agentur in Neumexiko 17,204 Seelen. Ihr großes neuntägiges Winterfest schilderte Matthews: »The mountain chant, a Navajo ceremony« (Washingt. 1887).
