Menken

Menken, Gottfried, evang. Theolog, geb. 29. Mai 1768 in Bremen, gest. daselbst 1. Juni 1831, nachdem er in Üdem bei Kleve, in Frankfurt, Wetzlar und seit 1802 in Bremen Pfarrer gewesen war. Zeitlebens ein Feind aller Neologie, hat er durch zahlreiche Predigten und Beiträge zum Schriftverständnis der Restaurationstheologie Bahn brechen helfen, aber nicht ohne im Punkte der Versöhnungslehre selbst zum Ketzer zu werden. Seine Schriften erschienen Bremen 1858–65, 7 Bde. (neue Ausg. 1894–95, 8 Bde.).
