Mayfair (spr. mēfǟr), ein Stadtteil Londons, zum Bezirk Westminster gehörig, im O. des Hyde Park, einer der Hauptsitze des fashionabeln Lebens, verdankt seinen Namen einem im 17. Jahrh. an der Stelle abgehaltenen »Maimarkt«.
