Massarāni

Massarāni, Tullo, ital. Schriftsteller, geb. 1826 in Mantua, studierte die Rechte in Pavia, folgte aber ganz seinen literarischen und künstlerischen Neigungen und bildete sich zum Maler aus. Als Publizist versuchte er sich zuerst 1848. Nach dem Scheitern der nationalen Bestrebungen ging er nach Paris, schrieb dort 1850 die Abhandlung »L'idea italiana attraverso i tempi«, ließ sich 1851 in Mailand nieder und veröffentlichte unter anderm manche deutschfreundliche Abhandlung im »Crepuscolo« und in der »Nuova Antologia«. 1860–67 war er Mitglied des Parlaments. Seine Essays sammelte er in den »Studii di letteratura e d'arte« (Flor. 1873), »Studii di politica e di storia« (das. 1873) und »Saggi critici« (2. Aufl. 1883). Nach der Weltausstellung in Paris 1878 veröffentlichte er das Buch »L'arte a Parigi« (Rom 1879). Weitere Schriften von ihm sind: »Piazza d'armi, bozzetto milanese« (1874); »In casa, fantasia infernale« (1876); »Domeniche d'Agosto« (1876); »Legnano, grandi e piccole storie« (1876); »Eugenio Camerini ei suoi tempi« (1877); »Sermoni e rime« (2. Aufl. 1884); »Il libro di Giada« (1882); »Carlo Tenca e il pensiero civile« (1886); »Cesare Correnti nella vita e nelle opere« (1890); »Il plebiscito dei transpadani« (1892); »Come la pensava il dottor Lorenzi« (1894); »Storia e fisiologia dell' arte di ridere« (1900–02, 3 Bde.).
