Keszthely (spr. kéßt-hĕlj), Großgemeinde im ungar. Komitat Zala, am Südwestende des Plattensees, Dampferstation, an den Bahnlinien Balaton Szent György-K. und K.-Ukk, mit alter Kirche, 3 Klöstern, Schloß samt Park, Musterwirtschaft und Gestüt des Grafen Tassilo Festetich, vorzüglichem Weinbau, bedeutendem Seefischfang, kath. Gymnasium, staatlicher Hochschule für Landwirtschaft (Georgikon, 1797 vom Grafen Georg Festetich gegründet), Bezirksgericht und (1901) 6796 magyarischen (römisch-kath.) Einwohnern. In der Nähe das Bad Héviz (s. d.) und die vorgeschichtliche Fundstätte Dobogó.
