Jurieu

Jurieu (spr. schürĭö), Pierre, reformierter Theolog, geb. 1637 in Mer (Loir-et-Cher), erwarb 1656 in Saumur die Magisterwürde, wurde danach Prediger in seiner Vaterstadt, 1674 in Sedan, flüchtete vor den Dragonaden nach Rotterdam und starb dort 1713. Als unermüdlicher Polemiker gegen Bossuet, Fénelon, Arnauld, wie auch gegen seine Glaubensgenossen Bayle (Weiteres s. d.), Basnage und Saurin verfaßte er zahlreiche Schriften; sein Hauptwerk ist die »Histoire des dogmes« (Amsterd. 1704–05).
