Fanam, ostind. Silbergewicht: in der Hafenstadt Kotschin = 0,375 g und als kleinste Rechnungsstufe 1/20 Anna, in Trankebar dagegen bis 1845 = 1/8 Rupie. Den Namen führen verschiedene Münzen: in der Präsidentschaft Bombay (Fanum, Paunchea) 1/3 Mohur = 9,943 Mk., früher in Mysore eine kleine Goldmünze (Palam) von 389 mg = 0,632 Mk., in Kalikat eine mit Silber und Kupfer stark legierte von etwa 1/2 Mk. Wert, bis 1825 auf Ceylon 1/12 Risdaller = 4 Stuivers oder Peis, bis 1818 in Madras 1/12 Arcotrupie = 80 Käsch, teilweise noch in Ponditscherri (Fanon) eine auch in Doppelstücken ausgeprägte Silbermünze zu 1/8 Rupie = 24 Pfennig Sollwert.
