Dromōnes

Dromōnes (griech., »Läufer«), die Übergangsform der Trieren auf die Galeeren, schnelle Ruderkriegsschiffe, im 9. Jahrh. die Kriegsschiffe der Byzantiner, hatten 25 Ruderpforten jederseits unter, 25 auf dem Oberdeck, 100 Ruderer und 100 Soldaten; im 12. Jahrh. kommen sie noch mit 230 Ruderern und 70 Soldaten vor.
