Devonport

Devonport (spr. déww'npōrt), 1) Hafenstadt, Badeort und Dampferstation an der Nordküste der britisch-austral. Insel Tasmania mit (1901) 2774 Einw., an der Mündung des Mersey in die Baßstraße, ist durch Eisenbahn mit Launceston und Hobart verbunden. – 2) Seebad auf der Nordinsel von Neuseeland, mit Auckland durch Dampfboot verbunden, mit Schiffbau, großem Dock, starken Befestigungen und (1901) 3823 Einw. Nahe dabei liegt der schöne See Takapuna. – 3) Stadt, s. Plymouth.
