Ukerewe, 1) großer See in Zentralafrika, jetzt meist Victoria Niansa (s. d.) genannt. – 2) Große Insel im südlichen Teile des Victoria Niansa, vor dem Spekegolf, 56 km lang, durchschnittlich 15 km breit, gut angebaut und bevölkert, soweit nicht auch hier schon die Schlafkrankheit Opfer gefordert hat, mit der kath. Missionsstation Neuwied und der Niederlassung Peterswerft.
