Tūtor

Tūtor (lat.), Vormund. In England (spr. tjūter) Titel für gewisse Universitätslehrer, und zwar unterscheidet man College tutors und Private tutors; die erstern, von den Colleges angestellte Lehrer, fungieren in den einzelnen Colleges als Aufseher und Studienleiter, während die letztern, als Fellows der Universität nur zugeordnet, zu einzelnen Studenten im persönlichen Verhältnis stehen (s. Fellow). – Im allgemeinern Sinn unterscheidet man den T. (Erzieher) vom Teacher (Lehrer).
