Ryswyck

Ryswyck (spr. reisweik), 1) Jan Theodoor van (volkstümlich Door genannt), flämischer Dichter, geb. 8. Juli 1811 in Antwerpen, wo er nach mancherlei Schicksalen Sekretär beim Leihamt ward und 7. Mai 1849 geisteskrank starb. Seit 1835 hat R. zahlreiche Dichtungen teils launigen, teils religiösen und politischen Inhalts veröffentlicht, welche die Antwerpener Rhetorykkammer De Olyftak gesammelt herausgab (»Volledige werken«, Antwerp. 1853; 4. Ausg. 1885, 3 Bde.), und von denen seine »Volksliedjes« (das. 1846) noch am meisten beliebt sind. In Antwerpen wurde ihm 27. Aug. 1864 ein Standbild errichtet.

2) Jan Baptist, Bruder des vorigen, geb. 14. Dez. 1818 in Antwerpen, gest. daselbst 5. Juli 1869, war von 1857–65 in Antwerpen Herausgeber des Tageblattes »De Grondwet« und zeichnete sich ebenfalls als flämischer Dichter aus. Er veröffentlichte unter anderm: »Volkslust of hekelen luim« (Antwerp. 1851), »Het woord Gods in tien zangen« (das. 1855) und »Mengelpoëzy« (das. 1855).
