Balasor, Hauptstadt und Hafen des Distrikts B. (5351 qkm mit [1891] 994,625 Einw.) in der britisch-ind. Provinz Bengalen, 13 km vom Meer, an einer versandenden Reede, mit Schiffbau, Reisausfuhr und (1891) 20,775 Einw. Als englische Handelsfaktorei 1641 angelegt, wurde B. bald auch von Portugiesen, Holländern und 1803 (mit Orissa) von England in Besitz genommen.
