Nyrén

Nyrén, Magnus, Astronom, geb. 21. Febr. 1837 zu Wärmland in Schweden, studierte in Upsala und kam 1868 an die Hauptsternwarte in Pulkowa, wurde 1871 daselbst Adjunkt und 1873 älterer Astronom, 1892 Vizedirektor. N. hat sich durch sehr genaue Neubestimmungen der Konstanten der Präzession, Nutation und Aberration besonders verdient gemacht. Er arbeitete besonders an der Herstellung der Fundamentalkataloge der Pulkowaer Sternwarte, lieferte zuerst den Nachweis, daß die Polhöhe eines Ortes nicht unveränderlich ist und veröffentlichte (meist in den Memoiren der Petersburger Akademie): »Détermination du coefficient constant de la précession aux moyen d'étoiles de faible éclat« (1870); »Bestimmung der Nutation der Erdachse« (Petersb. 1872); »Die Polhöhe von Pulkowa« (das. 1873); »Das Äquinoktium für 1865« (das. 1876); »L'aberration des étoiles fixes« (das. 1883 u. 1888); »Variations de la latitude de Poulkova« (das. 1894).
