Astié

Astié, Jean Frédéric, protestant. Theolog, geb. 1822 in Nérac (Lot-et-Garonne), gest. 20. Mai 1894 in Lausanne, seit 1856 daselbst Professor der Philosophie und Theologie an der Fakultät der freien Kirche des Kantons Waadt. 1848–53 wirkte er als Vorstand einer französisch-schweizerischen Gemeinde in New York. Er veröffentlichte: »Esprit d'Alexandre Vinet« (Par. 1861, 2 Bde.); »L'explication de l'évangile selon saint Jean« (Genf 1862–64, 3 Bde.); »Histoire de la république des États-Unis« (Par. 1865, 2 Bde.); »La théologie allemande contemporaine« (Genf 1874); »Mélanges de théologie et de philosophie« (Lausanne 1878); »Le Vinet de la légende et celui de l'histoire« (Par. 1882). Seit 1868 gab er mit Vuilleumier die »Revue de Théologie et de Philosophie« heraus.
