Johannes Bekkos, Patriarch von Konstantinopel, trat auf dem 14. allgemeinen Konzil zu Lyon 1274 für die Union zwischen Griechen und Lateinern ein, die er als Patriarch von 1275–82 in Wort und Schrift eifrig gefördert hat. 1283 abgesetzt, starb er 1293 im Kerker.
