Humboldt Range

Humboldt Range (spr. rēndsch), zwei südnördlich streichende Gebirgszüge des abflußlosen »Großen Bekkens«, im nordamerikan. Staat Nevada, die East H. (im Mount Bonpland 3452 m) am Oberlauf des Humboldtflusses (s. Humboldt, S. 630) und die West H. (im Star Peak 3026 m) an seinem Unterlauf, beide mit granitischen Kernen und von tiefen Canonschluchten durchfurcht, erstere aber sonst vorwiegend aus Kohlenkalkstein, letztere aus Triasschichten aufgebaut. Nur die höhern Teile sind mit spärlichem Wuchs von Wacholder und Kiefern (Pinus flexilis) bedeckt.
