Grit (Millstone grit, Mühlensandstein, Coal grit), der grobkörnige Sandstein der Steinkohlenformation in England und Nordamerika, insbes. die dem flözleeren Sandstein in Deutschland entsprechenden, mit Schieferton abwechselnden Sandsteine, die sich vorzüglich zu Mühlsteinen eignen.
