Goalpara, Hauptort des Distrikts G. (10,238 qkm mit [1891] 452,304 Einw.) in der britisch-ind. Provinz Assam, am Brahmaputra, besteht aus dem hochgelegenen englischen Viertel und der ärmlichen Eingebornenstadt und hat (1891) 5440 Einw. (Hindu und Mohammedaner), die lebhaften Flußhandel treiben. Der sehr ungesunde, aber viel Reis, auch Jute und Ölsaat erzeugende Distrikt wurde 1765 britisch.
