Girofflé C24H27N4Cl, Farbstoff aus der Gruppe der Safranine, entsteht bei Einwirkung von salzsaurem Nitrosodimethylanilin auf salzsaures Xylidin, bildet eine braune Paste oder ein graugrünes Pulver, löst sich in Wasser und Alkohol, färbt mit Tannin und Brechweinstein gebeizte Baumwolle rotviolett und dient im Kattundruck zum Nuancieren von Alizarinviolett.
